Today I watched the 3-D animation movie, Coraline.
The movie is about a young girl named Coraline (Dakota Fanning) who moves to a creepy old house with her distracted and computer-obsessed parents. As she is exploring the house, she comes upon a small door which leads her to another world, where she sees another version of her parents, with black buttons for eyes. They claim to be her “other parents”; her “other” mother and father are not as distracted as her old parents, and give her what she had always wished from her parents: a perfect and attentive family. Once her new parents tuck her to bed, she wakes up every time to find herself at her old parents’ house, and goes everyday to spend the night with her perfect parents. But when her other mother tells her that she can stay with them from now on, under the condition that she lets her eyes get replaced with buttons, Coraline firmly refuses and that’s when her perfect mother turns into a gothic, evil enemy. Then Coraline sets on an adventure to find her real parents, who have been kidnapped by her other mother, and rescue the eyes of other ghost-children who had been tricked and trapped by the evil mother.
I enjoyed this movie very much. The characters, especially the mysterious neighbors whom Coraline meets, were memorable and creative. The animation is one reason you must see this film. The graphics of the film were breathtaking and vivid. This movie is very creepy, and it will keep audiences of all ages thrilled and excited. I’m not a fan of action scenes, and I thought that the ones in the film could’ve been reduced a bit; however, this is a movie I really loved: it had witty dialogue, an original plotline with a mystery, and was very funny.
my rating: 9/10
Caroline is an adaptation of the 2002 novella by Neil Gaiman, author of The Graveyard Book.

Greetings, Zawan! I am thrilled to see that you are discussing the 3-D movie, Coraline. I am sooo in love with animation movies and I have seen tons of them with a cute friend of mine. We find them utterly funny! what about you?
I read about “Carolina” and was not sure whether it was worth seeing or not. Now, I have a drive to go see it and flash back to what you commented on. I am a movie watching fan especially with caramel popcorn and a drink of Coke! I hope you have enjoyed your weekend!
thanks Linda, actually we have one week off from school. I’m not sure why, it’s probably president’s week or something.
Dear Zawan, I envy you having not to go to school for one whole week – may be you will be able to watch another movie or read a book and give us your reviews. What plans do you have to occupy yourself during the week off?
I’ll just continue reading. Actually I read more at night and at school than during the day, because i don’t have a reading lamp in the living room
Hi friend!
I have tagged you for something on my blog!
kisses <3
Priscila
What a cute note! May be “fate” will bring you a fancy, colorful lamp for the living room one heavenly day!
By the way, what is the difference between a website and a blog?
Take care
Hi Linda, a blog is like the one you’re on now. It has a different structure than a website. You write ‘posts’, which build up under each other, and people are able to comment. Usually people who like to write create blogs, because they’re meant to be read. But websites can be anything. they have more pictures, and they’re structured in ‘pages’, rather than posts, which go under each other and you just scroll down to see them.
I think you should start a blog. It’s easier. You could choose either http://www.blogspot.com
or http://www.wordpress.com
Greetings Zawan! I seeeeee! Finally, I, now know the difference between a blog & a website! Doesn’t one also make some sort of payment for the website service – unlike the blog (if I understand write?)!
I would like to pick up on your suggestion to start a blog. I noticed your opinion on combining “Blogspot.com” and “WordPress”. I am leaning more towards “WordPress” ‘coz I noticed it’s more structured (something I find easier to manage) – what do you think?
Yes, for a website you’ll have to pay for a hosting service and also buy a program (like Microsoft Expression Web) to create it.
I’ve used both blogspot and wordpress.
I’d recommend wordpress because it’s more professional, and you can categorize and organize your stuff better.
You don’t pay anything for a blog, but if you want your own hosting (zawan.com instead of zawan.wordpress), you will need a hosting service + download wordpress program for free.
But for now, just go to wordpress.com and start your blog for free.
If you need any help you can ask me.
best wishes
zawan
Dear Zawan, thank you a million for making blogging a simple matter to understand. I am thinking of the topic(s) to write on. I will definitely ask for your kind help if needed. P.S. You must have gone back to school by now! Best of luck on your studies.
HI Zawan!!
Did you have a vacation off from school last week? I did… I went to Vermont and I went skiing… it was very fun!
How is you school so far… I know you started a while ago…
Lauren
I am a bit confused as to how different a blog is to Face Book, which I heard of from Cousin who helped me create an account there – however, going through it it seems like it’s almost like a blog! Am I right or not?
